The revolutionary Pantone Color Institute celebrates the 25th anniversary of its ‘Colour of the Year’ programme in 2024 with the warm orangey tones of ‘PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz’. Let’s take a closer look at this pastel hue and the inspiration behind its invention.

The Pantone Color Institute changed the world of luxury and everyday material products by creating a patented and universal language of colour. Should a brand need to make a fast and straightforward colour-centric decision, Pantone can be relied upon to have the perfect shade. In fact, more than 10 million creators worldwide depend on the Pantone colour method to ensure uniformity across their production process… clearly, the Institute is doing something right!

This year’s ‘Colour of the Year’ differs significantly from the flashy Viva Magenta fuchsia – inspired by the dye of cochineal, the most valuable natural dye found on earth – that took home the trophy in 2023. Although part of the pink family, 2024’s Peach Fuzz is a much quieter and softer shade. Sitting somewhere between pink and orange, this velvety colour is inspired by human connections and the good in mankind. With a sense of community and collaboration at its core, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is the antidote to the hustle and bustle of modern-day life and provides the naked eye with a moment of calm and recalibration.

PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz encapsulates our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It’s a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul, Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute.

Cosy and comforting, this enriching shade is available in various natural precious and semi-precious gems. Padparadscha sapphire, Angel Skin coral, pink opal and moonstone are a few of the rarer gems in this silky orange blush colour, alongside the more readily available morganite, tourmaline and quartz. The jewels below are a selection of breathtakingly beautiful designs that hold true to this happy colour. Take a look and let us know what you think of the “it” colour of the year!
