UltraLuxe Experience: Looking Ahead to JeweLuxe 2024 in Singapore

Imagine the feeling of being immersed in luxury of the highest level. And I don’t just mean high jewellery, but dining experiences, covetable spirits, high-end timepieces, and sumptuous lifestyle perks. This is what UltraLuxe plans to achieve when it reemerges at Singapore’s Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza in October 2024, incorporating a curated event that’s known well to us here at KaterinaPerez.com – JeweLuxe. There’s so many facets to this event, it’s hard to know where to start! Let’s commence with what’s been happening before the show even opens its doors – The Advocacy.

Back in 2022, I wrote about the ambitious new JeweLuxe concept show that emerged in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak. It was great to see Angela Loh, the event’s Founder, step into exciting new territory by curating a luxury meeting space between high-net worth individuals, collectors and tastemakers and high-end brands. Jump forward to 2024, and she has taken her focus on nurturing relationships with Asia’s pioneers to the next level!

The Advocacy is an initiative created by UltraLuxe that celebrates leading innovators, luxury connoisseurs and business leaders in themes like ‘Gamechangers’ and ‘Tastemakers’. They have been interviewed, photographed and invited to speak at the UltraLuxe show in October to “inject purpose and meaning into niche luxury”. Another thing to note is that, in the photographs, all the ‘Advocates’ are wearing jewels and watches by UltraLuxe exhibitors. I love this idea of building a community of people who not only buy luxury but help to shape it too! Plus, all this has happened before the show even opens its doors, which means UltraLuxe is now the place-to-be for all these VIPs when it opens on October 4.

The show is split into two parts: Edition One takes place from October 4-8 and Edition Two continues from October 9-13. JeweLuxe takes place across both phases, albeit with slightly different focuses. For example, in Edition One, exhibitors will be grouped into four thematic areas – The Protagonist, Gemagical, Modernissimo and Nouveau Asia – focusing on responsible sourcing and sustainability, rare and unique gems, European high jewellery, and contemporary Asian high jewellery, respectively. Exhibitors already signed on to appear in these curated show areas include Alexander Laut, Autore, Caratell, Renee Jewellers, B.P De Silva, Fope, Akillis, Paolo Costagli, David Webb, Thelma West, Simone Jewels and Calla Lily, among so many others.

“It is a dream come true for me this year. The constellation of talents and passions in Singapore and from around the world partaking in the showcase will not only inspire new concepts but will also indulge connoisseurs and collectors with experiences that tantalise their various senses as well as elevate their desire to invest in luxury for long term value preservation,” Angela Loh, Founder, UltraLuxe.

In the second edition, JeweLuxe will continue under the banner of Style Inc – a showcase celebrating the merger of artistry, craftsmanship, design and technical innovation. I have also been told about another addition to the JeweLuxe schedule – RetroSpark Gallery – that will focus purely on vintage and antique jewellery. This is new for 2024 and will include pieces by Cartier, Bulgari, Pomellato and Buccellati alongside 40 independent brands that have “created ripples in jewellery history from the 1800s to the 2000s,” according to event Founder, Angela Loh. The same concept will also appear in the ChronoSphere segment of the show, including a range of vintage timepieces for guests to peruse.

However, what really makes Edition Two different is the introduction of UltraLuxe Homme, which is described as the “ultimate playground for the modern gentleman”. This area of the show will have a space dedicated to luxury timepieces (under the banner of ChronoSphere), the Ultra Bar, where guests can sample more than ten different types of whiskies curated by Shinano Group, the exclusive members-only Pacific Club Singapore, and William Grant & Sons, and the LuxEscapade segment inspired by elevated living, travel, and relaxation.

Finally, I would like to tell you about something extra special! This year, for the first time, I will be debuting my own jewellery corner, 'Glamora,' at the JeweLuxe exhibition from the 9th to the 13th of October. This will showcase a carefully curated selection of luxury jewellery, including brands like Artur Scholl, Art of Luxury, Russo and Visconti, designed for everyday elegance, focusing on pieces that effortlessly blend style with practicality. I have personally invited some jewellers from around the globe to participate, each offering their unique perspectives on wearable luxury. For example, you can discover the bold creations of Georgian brand Marilisi, which was founded in Tbilisi in 2008. The brand’s pieces are steeped in centuries of goldsmithing tradition, resulting in works that are full of refinement and finesse.

From France, Ilona Orel will bring her enchanting talismanic jewellery collection to Jeweluxe, incorporating universal symbols reimagined with a contemporary edge. Her pieces are visually striking, with many elements designed to be mobile, creating a dynamic experience for the wearer. Representing Taiwan, Joy Wei Chow is celebrated for her innovative and artistic approach to jewellery design, often paying homage to her rich cultural heritage. By integrating local motifs and traditional techniques into modern styles, she crafts pieces that tell a story. Finally, I look forward to welcoming Maison Mirath from Beirut to Singapore. Founded by a visionary mother-daughter duo, the brand seeks to empower women by reflecting their strength and dreams in its designs. Maison Mirath also offers bespoke and personalised jewellery, ensuring each piece resonates with the wearer's individual journey.

In addition to the exhibition, attendees can look forward to fashion shows featuring these brands, along with a panel discussion on how to style luxury jewellery with confidence for daily wear. With expert insights into the latest trends and plenty more brands to discover, the 'Glamora' corner promises an exciting journey through diverse, global designs.

Are you feeling inspired? I am told there will be more than US $200 million worth of gems and jewels on display throughout the event – under lock and key, of course – so there’s plenty to look forward to. As this is a consumer-facing event, I will also be acting as a fly on the wall to see what Asia’s most important connoisseurs are coveting this season and what colours, shapes and styles they are drawn to.
