Mocha Mousse: Simple Pleasures from Pantone
Following its 25-year tradition, the Pantone Color Institute is offering the fashion industry a special New Year’s gift – the hottest shade for the next 365 days. The agonizing wait is officially over: the color of 2025 is PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse, a chocolatey, decadent, yet cozy brown. A true feast for all senses!
This trendy shade will definitely expand our perception of brown, transitioning from modest and down-to-earth to luxurious and ambitious.
Pantone 2025
Mocha Mousse is all about the sensual warmth of soft fabrics, oily leather and suede, cozy velvet, cashmere and angora, as well as warming aromas of cocoa, chocolate and coffee. But how can its “flavour” reveal itself in jewelry and in the gemological palette? As if echoing Laurie Pressman’s words, the jewelry world also invites us to take a journey from simple quartz to exquisite and rare brown, cognac and champagne diamonds of the mocha shade. Although it happens really rarely, their paths are about to cross!
At first glance, there is not much choice. But if you take a closer look, you will discover a lot of interesting things. For example, quartz can offer not only its monochromatic smoky variations, but also exclusive motifs with needle-like inclusions. Products of nature’s creativity, their internal patterns never repeat and bear their author’s signature. This feature of quartz has been appreciated and consistently used by such brands as Jacquie Aiche and Charlotte Reedtz, while Cartier has given this unique stone a central place in its Magnitude High Jewellery collection. If you are surprised by this fact, don’t hesitate to explore these fascinating thin line inclusions.

The value and beauty of a brown diamond, on the other hand, need no introduction: colored “girls’ best friends” have long been synonymous with exclusive luxury. But in search of sensual pleasure there is always room for experimentation: back in the early 2000s, De Beers offered uncut diamonds of various shades as an alternative to classic cut diamonds. In my opinion, the company’s jewellers achieved the best results by combining uncut and cut stones of different shades. The smooth transitions of light and color are truly mesmerizing!
The underwater world also has some trendy shade of Mocha Mousse to offer, in the form of pearls. Their richest palette is traditionally represented by jewellery brand Assael, a renowned pearl expert. If you are persistent enough in your search, you can find the desired shade in jewellery made with wood, titanium and aluminum. These may not be the most popular “ingredients” of jewellery masterpieces, but, as a rule, they are part of very bold design solutions that open up endless opportunities for experimenting with your own style. The most striking example is the creations of Wallace Chan and Hemmerle that have already become classics despite a hardly conservative style. Through constant search for new materials and techniques over the years they have come up with a huge range of dashing color solutions, including such rare jewellery shades as Mocha Mousse. Which one would you choose? My selection of jewellery in this trendy shade will help you find your own perfect Mocha Mousse brown!
