Unmistakeable Inner Light: Exploring the Precious Jewels of Giorgio Visconti
Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of catching up with the team at Giorgio Visconti, an Italian High Jeweller of distinction since 1946. At the heart of the brand is a focus on light, both literal and metaphorical, and the ways in which exceptional jewellery can reflect light, nurture a joyful inner light, and shine a light on the world through beauty and artistry. These are all principles I wholeheartedly believe in, so it was lovely to try on the brand’s beautiful jewels and discover a preview of its new Like Me Chapter III collection at Jewellery Geneva in April, ahead of its official launch at Vicenzaoro this September. To continue the story, I spoke with CEO Andrea Visconti to learn more about Giorgio Visconti’s founding principles, the woman it designs for, and the collections that showcase its unique character.
If you have been a follower of my content for some time, you will know I have a special fondness for Italian craftsmanship, especially Italian High Jewellery. There is always such a focus on the female form, and how pieces are more ergonomically suited to drape around the neck, wrap around the wrist or sit comfortably on the fingers. At Jewellery Geneva in April, all these notions of Italian quality, comfort, dynamism and creativity were affirmed by Giorgio Visconti, a brand I have been quietly following for many years during visits to Vicenzaoro, among other shows.

This year is a particularly special milestone for the brand as it is celebrating its 80th anniversary. To mark the occasion, it has launched its first-ever men’s collection and the third chapter in its Like Me collection, which is an ode to the glamorous and elegant women who have nurtured the business across eight decades, both in Italy and internationally. What’s important to note is the brand’s underlying principle – the Giorgio Visconti light – that represents love, meaningful moments, and the gifts of nature that are natural diamonds and coloured gemstones. All this manifests in timeless jewels with a twist, such as unusual settings or dynamic, swirling shapes. At Jewellery Geneva, for example, I was smitten with a trio of green tourmaline rings that I described at the time as being ‘quietly extraordinary’. I am sure you can see why… these are pieces that don’t need to shout luxury, they simply are to their core.
Now that I have had the chance to reflect on a busy spring season, it seemed only right to return to Giorgio Visconti in its anniversary year and ask some more detailed questions. Below are the highlights of a conversation I had with Andrea Visconti, including a useful guide to the brand’s most popular collections.
Katerina Perez: Can you tell me more about the history and heritage of Giorgio Visconti?
Andrea Visconti: The brand was founded in 1946 in Valenza, which is the beating heart of Italian goldsmithing. Our founder, Giorgio Visconti, opened a small atelier with one very clear vision: to create jewellery capable of capturing light and returning it with an unmistakable intensity. There is a phrase we have carried since 1946: “Mehr Licht” — “more light” — said to be Goethe's last words. It became the opening line of our founder's vision, and it is still the first thing every new Giorgio Visconti creation must answer to. If a jewel does not capture more light, it is not one of ours.

This year, we celebrate our 80th anniversary, and what I find most meaningful is that, after eight decades, the way we work has not really changed. The entire process, design, casting, setting, the careful selection of diamonds, the final polishing, still happens inside our manufacture in Valenza, by hands that have inherited generations of craftsmanship.
Today, my brother Fabrizio and I lead the company together, and we continue to combine that historic Piedmontese tradition with a contemporary, forward-looking design language. We are proud to be Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) certified, because heritage for us also means responsibility toward the artisans who work with us, the communities we source from, and the women who choose to wear our pieces. After eighty years, the brand is still told through one quiet word: light.
KP: How would you define your signature style, and are there any specific pieces or collections that best exemplify your approach?
AV: Our signature is a kind of “whispered elegance”: refined, never ostentatious, designed to outlast trends. We work primarily with 18k white and rose gold and certified diamonds, often paired with carefully chosen coloured stones, and we treat the setting itself as part of the design. The way light enters and leaves the stone is essential to the final emotion.
Icona is probably the clearest expression of our DNA: we like to call it the emblem of Giorgio Visconti’s light. It was born as the quintessential solitaire and grew into trilogies featuring sapphires, rubies and emeralds, framed by diamonds — pure form, pure light. What runs through everything we design is a simple rule we don’t break: a piece must feel right at first glance and at the hundredth time you wear it.

KP: I really love the relationship you have developed with the concept of light and how this plays into your brand language. Can you tell us more about this?
AV: Light is the single word that holds everything we do together. It is quite literally the heart of our manifesto: “In a world in which you shine, you reveal your precious identity. The Giorgio Visconti light is the reflection of this inner light.” A diamond, by its very nature, captures and returns light, but for us, the real protagonist has always been the woman who wears it, and the light she carries inside. Our role is simply to amplify it: to design a jewel that doesn’t impose itself but reveals the precious identity of whoever wears it.
This guides every creative decision we make, the cut and clarity of the stones, the proportions of the settings, the finishing of the gold, because everything is calibrated to let her shine, not to compete with her. It is also why our pieces are made to be lived in, not just admired: a jewel only truly fulfils its purpose when it moves with a woman, in her gestures, in her days. In a world that often rewards what shouts the loudest, we believe in a beauty that glows from within.
KP: Can you provide some more information about your most popular collections?
AV: Today, our work is articulated across four collections, each speaking to a different moment in a woman’s life.
Icona is the timeless one, incorporating solitaires and trilogies in white gold and diamonds, the language of important moments, from engagements to anniversaries.
IoLuce is the collection most closely tied to tradition, often chosen as a gift or to be passed down through generations: synonymous with simplicity, yet with an immense light capable of making important moments eternal — pieces designed for everyday wear that still feel precious.
Like Me is structured in chapters, each dedicated to a different facet of the woman who wears it; it is the collection in which a woman can really recognise herself.
Finally, Antologie is our most extensive high jewellery collection: a tribute to beauty, art and elegance, with sapphires, rubies, aquamarines, emeralds and diamonds set in white gold, drawing from our most loved design codes (crosses, petals, diamond pavés) and from nature as a constant source of inspiration.
KP: 2026 is such an important year for your brand. What have you been working on to celebrate this special moment in time?
AV: Chapter III is the most important thing we’ve done this anniversary year, and it’s officially launching at Vicenzaoro this September. Geneva in April was just a first preview. Like Me is not about a single type of woman, but about the many facets of her personality. From the very beginning, we envisioned the collection as a story told in chapters, with each one expressing a distinct aesthetic language and a different sensibility. The Intro chapter was defined by bold, sculptural volumes; Chapter I by clean, minimalist forms; and Chapter II by a rich use of coloured gemstones.
Chapter III adds a new expression to this journey, introducing, for the first time, the dialogue between titanium, gold and diamonds, and further expanding the ways in which a woman can recognise herself in the world of Like Me. It's the first time we've paired titanium with gold and diamonds: titanium brings a lightness and an edge we hadn't explored before, while the gold keeps the warmth that is unmistakably ours. We're launching it in two expressions side by side, the classic gold and diamond version and this new titanium one, so a woman can choose which facet speaks to her.

To mark the anniversary, we are also launching our first-ever men’s collection, crafted entirely in titanium and gold, designed for a man who shares the same sensibility as our woman: refined, confident, never ostentatious.
It's not a coincidence that our first men's collection shares Chapter III's material palette, and that both launch together at Vicenzaoro in September. We wanted the same sensibility — refined, confident, never ostentatious — to speak to the man who shares his life with a Giorgio Visconti woman. Titanium and gold became the language that connects them.
After eighty years, the question is always the same: how do we give more light? Chapter III, and the man who now stands beside her, is our answer for this moment.
Alongside these new chapters, we continue to invest in our RJC-certified supply chain and in greater transparency around our diamonds, because this matters to the women and now also to the men, who choose to wear our pieces. After eighty years, our role remains the same: to give shape to the inner light of whoever wears Giorgio Visconti.

KP: How would you describe the quintessential Giorgio Visconti woman? Who is she, and how does she feel when wearing your creations?
AV: The Giorgio Visconti woman is not defined by an age or by a single style; she is defined by an attitude. She knows her own worth and doesn’t need to prove it; she chooses quality over noise and meaning over status. She might wear an Icona solitaire to a board meeting and a Like Me cocktail ring on a Saturday night and feel herself completely in both moments. Above all, we want her to feel seen and not simply adorned. When she puts on one of our jewels, the piece should feel like an extension of who she is, not a costume: something that draws out her light without ever overshadowing it.
