Soulful Details: The Majestic Moroccan Styling of Bachtale Jewellery
Have you ever journeyed across Morocco? It is such a beautiful country, full of incredible architecture, richly detailed patterns, and warm colours that feel ancient and full of wonder. Earlier this year, I visited Casablanca to meet the team at Bachtale Jewellery, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2026. The Maison has its flagship store at the Four Seasons Hotel in the city, which gave me the perfect opportunity to explore its high jewellery, discover its key collections, and meet Founder Salah Tariki and Artistic Director Hicham Aguedach. Here, I would like to share some highlights from our conversation, which spanned heritage crafts, contemporary luxury, and signature aesthetics.
Due to the nature of the High Jewellery world, we spend a lot of time talking about Parisian Maisons, with a smattering based in New York and London. However, the industry has changed for the better, and now there is a whole world of jewellery artistry to discover through social media and international events. One of the best parts of my job is travelling to new countries to discover the jewellery traditions that define their unique cultural aesthetic. Most recently, I hopped on a plane to Morocco to find out what makes the artistic traditions of this North African country so special. A big part of this discovery process was meeting with Bachtale Jewellery at its location within the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel in Casablanca.
Over the last decade, Bachtale has nurtured its own High Jewellery aesthetic, shaped by Moroccan heritage, nature, geometry and traditional craftsmanship. Its inspiration comes from desert motifs, the bustle of Marrakech, and the architecture of multi-storey riads, which are so quintessentially Moroccan in my eyes. As well as receiving a warm welcome, I was invited to try on a selection of pieces that exemplify the Bachtale signature style. Beautiful emeralds, extra-large cabochons, and a fantastical peacock-inspired brooch were among the treasures I found.
Below are the highlights of a conversation I had with master jeweller and Bachtale Founder, Salah Tariki. Over the last 20 years, he has gone from working at the bench in a traditional workshop to establishing his own respected design house, all without losing sight of the ancient techniques that make Moroccan artisanal craftsmanship so special.

Katerina Perez: What is the ethos behind your brand?
Salah Tariki: Bachtale blends traditional heritage with modern luxury. Our philosophy is simple: we honour the past while designing for today’s connoisseurs. Ten years ago, my journey led to the birth of Bachtale. Today, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we are one of the most sought-after names in the Moroccan luxury market. We bridge local heritage and global excellence by following the strict standards of international High Jewellery. To us, jewellery is not just an accessory—it is an intimate heirloom meant to be passed down through generations.

KP: How would you describe your signature style? Is there a specific aesthetic or combination of features that gives your jewellery its recognisable identity?
ST: Our signature style is a mix of clean, geometric shapes and organic warmth. It is a refined look where modern architectural lines meet the soulful details of traditional craftsmanship.
A Bachtale piece is easily recognised by this contrast: sleek, highly polished contemporary metal paired with delicate, hand-wrought textures. We remove everything unnecessary, letting the purity of the design and the brilliance of the stones take centre stage. The result is an aesthetic that is effortlessly majestic, yet minimalistic.

KP: What Moroccan influences can we see in your jewellery?
ST: Morocco is our heartbeat, but we choose artistic abstraction over literal interpretation. The warmth of our homeland shines through our golden metalwork, geometric settings, and storytelling.
You can see the elegance of Moorish architecture in our modern, symmetrical lines, and the fluid shape of desert dunes in our polished gold waves. We honour the skills of local artisans—like traditional engraving and openwork—but give them a fresh, modern twist. It is a sophisticated nod to Moroccan history, filtered through a lens of absolute luxury.
KP: You have recently opened a new location in the Four Seasons Rabat. What makes this special, and does it help to showcase Moroccan craftsmanship to visitors from all over the world?
ST: Our boutique at the Four Seasons Rabat is a natural extension of the Bachtale lifestyle. Located in a place defined by quiet luxury and historic beauty, it serves as a private sanctuary for collectors. It is also an incredible crossroads. It allows us to welcome international travellers, diplomats, and connoisseurs who appreciate culture and fine jewellery. Meeting our clients in this serene, oceanside setting makes acquiring a Bachtale piece an elegant, unhurried experience.
KP: Can you share some key pieces that you feel best reflect your brand's signature style?
ST: Our identity is perfectly reflected in our signature creations, such as the Bahia High Jewellery necklace. We choose our gemstones the way an artist chooses their colour palette. Bachtale is highly celebrated for its use of exceptional precious stones and the highest-quality certified diamonds.
Our signature look heavily features the pairing of luminous gold with bright, icy diamonds—a combination that feels both ancient and remarkably fresh. We also love rich, saturated gemstones like deep emeralds and striking sapphires, often set against minimalist metalwork for a bold impact. Finally, the mix of smooth, mirror-polished surfaces with textured gold offers a tactile luxury that is uniquely ours.

KP: What are you working on at the moment, and what can we expect from you in the future?
ST: We are currently creating our upcoming high jewellery capsule, The Love Legacy of Bachtale, featuring the Le Pli collection. This is our definitive collection dedicated to love. It is poetically inspired by the delicate fold of a love letter, capturing the romance, longing, and unspoken words shared between lovers. Designed for milestones like engagements and weddings, the collection features minimalist, fluid metal folded to mimic paper, sealing an eternal promise within clean lines.
In the coming months, we plan to expand Bachtale into a lifestyle luxury brand, introducing a diverse range of creations beyond high jewellery. We won't say more just yet—we want to keep the suspense alive as you discover the expansion of our universe. We are also designing and preparing new boutiques in major Moroccan cities and have plans to expand internationally through private salons, exclusive pop-ups, and global flagships, thereby establishing a new legacy for luxury.

Ask me to describe my dream high jewellery collection, and it wouldn’t just contain key minerals like emeralds, sapphires and rubies. It would contain pieces that tell the story of global jewellery traditions, reflect worldwide cultures, and showcase the breadth of talent from a world that has never been more accessible thanks to social media. The next time you are visiting Morocco or indeed scrolling through Instagram, I invite you to visit Bachtale Jewellery to see what’s new.
