Go Big or Go Home: Power Earrings Take the Lead on the Spring / Summer Catwalks
For the jewellery connoisseur, the message from the spring/summer 2026 fashion collections, especially for those who love drama in their accessories, is: be bold, be innovative and be fearless. Only two years ago we were discussing “quiet luxury”; discreet, barely noticeable fine gold chains and small earrings. But on the catwalk, the mood was swiftly shifting to a different style of power dressing, harnessing the brighter, bolder silhouettes of 80s fashion. Think boxy jackets, pencil skirts, sexy trouser suits, flamboyant bows tied at the neck and lots of bright, draped dresses that require bigger bijoux accessories.
Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent, Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli and Alessandro Michele at Valentino have noticeably amped up the size of their jewels in response, particularly their earrings, to balance this revived silhouette. The emphasis is on maximalist sculptural shapes and lots of silver and gilt. Earrings are longer, more voluminous, or simply don’t match, giving some wit and idiosyncrasy to modern ear decoration.
