Earlier this year, I came across a post by the incredible AI creator and artist Anastasia Rogozhina, who goes by @ai.castle on Instagram. I reposted one of her images and to say it was well received by my audience is an understatement! Seeing how this fusion of technology and jewellery resonated with all of you, I commissioned Anastasia to create an entirely new series of fantastical, AI-driven shots that transform jewels into floral and botanical motifs. The results, collectively named ‘Diamond Garden’, offer a kind of dreamlike escapism that I think we all need right now. Take a look and consider the incredible feats that artificial intelligence can achieve in empowering creativity and broadening our minds.

I have always been interested in the intersection between jewellery and art, whether that’s traditional drawing, painting and sculpture or more contemporary forms of digital creation. When I first stumbled upon Anastasia Rogozhina’s work (see her Instagram gallery @ai.castle), I was immediately impressed by her command of light, shade, depth and dimension. All these factors are required to ensure high jewellery is accurately and convincingly rendered in the digital space. Otherwise, the pieces look two-dimensional and lacklustre. Anastasia has built an outstanding portfolio of work thanks to collaborations with global brands, such as Versace and L’Oréal, and coverage in the New York Post, Le Monde, Business of Fashion (BoF), and Business Insider. Plus, if you are engaged with the concept of AI Fashion Week, you may very well have seen Anastasia’s work presented alongside some of the world’s most influential digital creators.

Our collaboration began with the idea of transforming jewellery into fantastical, living entities. We imagined diamonds and coloured gemstone jewels twisting and growing like ivy around the human body or existing in super-sized floral forms that simply couldn’t be achieved in real life. I am the human guide in this monumental botanical world, guiding viewers through the surrealism of towering gemstone plants, snakes and even big cats.

One of the things that Anastasia is really interested in is realistic faces and rendering the correct ‘architecture’ of the human form. I’m sure you will agree that her interpretations of me are quite incredible, right down to the play of light across my skin and the ways in which my fingers are often intertwined with imaginary jewellery sculptures. I will be interested to hear which piece of art is your favourite from the final creations shown below.

Today, technology is helping to push the boundaries of jewellery design. AI is becoming a powerful tool for creating new concepts and developing fresh marketing campaigns. Although we’ve been conditioned to be cautious of AI and all it entails, it has the power to expand the limits of what’s possible, reveal new worlds, and introduce new audiences to high jewellery in innovative guises. As my mission is to make more people fall in love with jewellery, I perceive AI as another route to achieving this ambition, one fantastical image at a time.
