Haute Horlogerie brand Blancpain has been designing high art watches in keeping with their founding traditions since 1735, and now, in 2016, it is beginning a new chapter in its history of women’s timepieces, for which the master craftsmen have conceived, and developed for release a set of limited edition Ladybird watches to mark Valentine’s Day.

The original Ladybird watch was featured in Blancpain’s Women collection launched in 1956. Back then it was the smallest watch in the world, and the model became something of a style icon, unmistakeable thanks to its diminutive, elegant form – definitely one to check out for anyone trying to find the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.

The New Ladybird Valentine’s Day Special Edition From Blancpain

In honour of this year’s holiday for all those who are deeply in love, Blancpain’s watchmakers have come up with a new version of the classic watch. The 21.5mm diameter dial is made from white gold and decorated with a perimeter of classic, round-cut diamonds with the total weight of over 0.5 carats. The centre of the mother-of-pearl watch face is decorated with a heart, also mother-of-pearl, the top half of which is encrusted with clear diamonds and scarlet rubies.

A white calfskin leather strap and a small ruby heart-shaped miniature pendant complete the red and white ensemble. Piercing the heart is a white gold and diamond arrow on a white gold charm attached to the watch – first presented at Baselworld 2015 and specially designed for the Ladybird watch. You can even choose whether you fix the pendant above or below the watch face, at 12 o’ clock or 6 o’ clock.

The watch runs on a 6150 automatic movement with a diameter of 15.7mm, currently the smallest watch mechanism in the world. If you like the look of this one, you’d better hurry: only 99 ‘Ladybird 2016’ watches have been produced, each model with its own unique serial number engraved on the back.
