Diva Forever: Céline Dion Makes a Diamond-Studded Comeback in Paris
There was a particular poignancy to Céline Dion’s choice to wear the magnificent high jewellery diamond necklace with a 10ct emerald-cut centre stone by Boucheron for her recent 26-night concert residency at the Plénitude Arena de Paris. The global superstar was returning to the concert stage dripping in diamonds after battling a rare, debilitating neurological disorder for the past four years called Stiff Person Syndrome. However, after adopting an intense new rehabilitation regimen, she is back in the limelight and ready to perform again – and in style.
For her first night, the Canadian singer wore a sculptural, black, strapless Dior haute couture gown with a pleated peplum skirt, her customary slicked-back hair and the dramatic Boucheron necklace, called “The Address”. Unveiled in January as part of the Histoire de Style series Nom: Boucheron, Prénom: Frédéric collection, it was inspired by an 1839 house archive design that echoes the aerial view of Place Vendôme. With its octagonal outline framed in diamond “paving stones” and black enamel and suspended on a ribbon of baguette diamonds and enamel, the design honours Boucheron’s role as the first major jewellery house to move to the famous square and took 1,107 hours to make.
